My Story

Hi! Welcome to My Ginger House!

My name is Karlie and I am so excited you are here. I just wanted to write something a little bit about me, my family, and why I decided to start a blog.

So first things first, let's meet the fam!

Do you now understand why my blog's name is My Ginger House? We all have red hair!

This is my husband, Tyler, and our sweet daughter, Evelyn. This was taken the day of her blessing, so she was about a month old at this point. You would have never known but she had been crying the whole two hours we were in church. She tuckered herself out and I was relieved she was sleeping.

Tyler and I met at Southern Virginia University. It was actually funny because when I met him my first thought was, 'I could never date that guy because he looks similar to my brother and that's weird'. But I got to know him more through several classes and realized he's nothing like my brother.

So after dating for about six months he proposed on Easter.

Bling Bling! I was so surprised!

And then the day before Thanksgiving we got married.

Tyler and I were both still in school when we got married. I still had one more semester of my senior year and he still had another year. So Virginia is where we spent our newlywed years.

Tyler played center and guard for the football team there and is now pursuing a career in coaching.

In 2013, I graduated with my Bachelor's. First generation college student and I was so excited.

Tyler graduated from Southern Virginia in 2014 and had an amazing opportunity to go to graduate school in Maryland and to be a football graduate assistant so off we went!

Tyler graduated with his Master's in Education in December of 2015 at Frostburg State University. After Tyler graduated, we moved to Houston where we are currently. He is now studying to get his teacher's certification in high school social studies and he plans to be a football coach.

In December of 2014, we were surprised to find out that I was pregnant! A complete shock! However, we were so excited and grateful for the newest addition for our family.

In August 2015, we welcomed our sweet Evelyn.

She is now seven months old. She's crawling and definitely keeps me on my toes, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

And yes, she has red peach fuzz.

I'm really excited to be starting this blog. My main focus and purpose of this blog was one, for myself, and two, for others. I really wanted to have something where I could go back and look at what I have accomplished, what has happened, and what I've learned, which is a lot. But I also wanted to have a place where I can share my advice, tips, and tricks to new mothers. I read so many blogs when I was pregnant and for the most part they were pretty helpful. I have learned so much recently that I have wanted to share it with those who may be in a similar circumstance.

So welcome to My Ginger House. Come on in and make yourself at home!

Love, Karlie
